Mary Lynn Peterson, President

As co-founder and president of CM Construction since its inception in 1992, Mary has been instrumental in guiding CM Construction from a small startup into one of the most efficient building contractor business models in the country. Mary also serves as the company controller.

Mary began her business experience as the owner of multiple hairstyling businesses in southern Minnesota after graduation from Cosmetology and Business school. Mary and her husband Chuck have lived in Lakeville, MN for over twenty years, where they raised their children Michelle, Krista and Collin. 

Chuck M. Peterson, Vice President

Chuck is co-founder and has been Vice President since CM Construction’s inception. He has been responsible for construction operations as the company has grown from a small startup to one of the most respected and successful general contracting firms. Chuck’s vast business experience began in 1974 when he worked for engineering and architectural firms on projects throughout the United States, Europe and the Far East. Early on, Chuck earned respect for his successful handling of Construction Management services in central and southern Minnesota and general contracting for firms that handled both private and public work projects. Chuck has taken the lead on over $800 million in construction.

Chuck’s education includes a background in Construction Management/Business, Engineering Science, and Building Design Technology.

Along with his duties as Vice President, Chuck often serves as Project Manager, prepares bids, administers projects and handles closeouts.

Stan Thom, Project Manager

As one of the industry’s most known and top project managers, Stan has over 34 years of experience in commercial general construction. Through his career, Stan has developed strong relationships with Owners, Architects, Engineers, and subcontractors, building construction teams that are competitive, cooperative, and successful. Stan understands that in the construction business, time is money. He is pro-active in meeting challenges and difficulties head on, finding and implementing solutions quickly.

Stan’s Core Principals are, “Say what you are going to do, do what you say, answer phone calls and emails promptly” and “Subcontractors are a general contractors’ life line, treat them fair, with honesty, communicate clear expectations and make prompt payments” A subcontractor’s success is key to the overall success of the project and the Team.

Stan’s education includes an Architectural design and drafting degree, Construction Management education and the school of hard knocks.
